Nullah Leh drowning: Navy refuses rescue request

RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Navy turned down a request by Rescue-1122 officials to help retrieve the body of a teenager who drowned in Nullah Leh on Tuesday after the heavy rains. “We requested the navy to send its divers to recover Roohullah’s body, who drowned in Nullah Leh at Dhoke Naju Bridge, but they turned us down,” said Rescue 1122 District Emergency Officer Dr Abdul Rahman on Wednesday. He informed that three teams have been deputed at three different points to recover the body. The three points included Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, Gawalmandi and Soan Bridge, he said, adding that the search operation would continue until the body is found. “Rescue-1122 does not have any specially trained divers, hence we had asked the navy for their expert services,” he said. The public relations officer of Pakistan Navy did not respond to requests for comment on the issue.
