KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Ali Mirza has instructed the IGP Sindh to submit a report on the rising crime rate due to mismanaged intelligence information at police stations.

Taking note of media reports alleging problems in the exchange of intelligence information, Mirza said that all law-enforcement agencies must hold joint meetings to devise an effective strategy of sharing information on criminals. DIGs, SPs and SHOs at the Crime Investigation Department (CID), Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC), SIU, Special Branch, Anti-Car Lifting Unit (ACLU) and intelligence agencies have to coordinate better to curb terrorism in the city.

He directed police officials to act against criminals with the support of the Rangers. He stressed the need to boost community policing to maintain peace in the city. The minister said the police should take advantage of training courses and modern technological support and improve their performance. Snap checking and patrolling in sensitive and important spots should be carried out in collaboration with the Rangers.
