Terror threat: 30 security teams deployed across Islamabad

A search operation was carried out during the day amid terror threats.

ISLAMABAD: Following reports of a possible terrorist attack, the federal capital of Pakistan, Islamabad was put on high security alert on Sunday, Express News reported. 

A search operation was carried out during the day and 30 teams comprised of navy and police officials were put to the task of ensuring security.

Commandos were deployed near the Margalla Hills.

A day earlier, security at the Benazir International Airport in Islamabad was beefed after receiving intelligence of a possible terrorist attack.

Intelligence agencies had warned law enforcement and airport authorities that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was planning to carry out attacks on the Islamabad airport and the PAF Chaklala air base.

Security officials said that there has been a security threat at the airport for a few days.
