Immunisation: Polio vaccination campaign planned

1,500 mobile teams, 109 stationed teams and 88 transport teams had been constituted to administer polio drops.

MUZAFFARGARH: Health EDO Athar Iqbal said on Saturday that 764,415 children would be administered polio drops during a three-day vaccination drive starting on August 19. Addressing a meeting to review arrangements for the anti-polio campaign, Iqbal said that 1,500 mobile teams, 109 stationed teams and 88 transport teams had been constituted to administer polio drops to every child under five years of age. He said three district supervisors, four tehsil supervisors and 45 zone supervisors would to monitor the performance of the polio teams. The EDO said that services of the Revenue Department, the police, the Social Welfare Department and Auqaf Department would also be utilised. Muzaffargarh DCO Farasat Iqbal told the meeting that a polio case had been reported in the district in 2011. He said no cases had been reported in 2012.  He said Muzaffargarh was a flood-affected district deserving more attention.
