Nawaz sharif stands up for his centre-right conservative credentials and I always admire him for that.

While it is laudable that he has undertaken the trip to perform Umra, I hope that it was not on the back of the dispossessed Pakistani masses with expenses paid from the public exchequer. I hope that the newly awakened youth of Pakistan realize that religious obligations and pilgrimages have to be paid by an individual's own pocket, instead of from the public treasury, and will keep a vigil when these trips are made to religious sites by our politicians and bureaucrats. And, they should ask their representatives, their MNAs, to raise this question in the Parliament during the questions and answers session. The expenses also include the costs incurred by the unusually large coterie of security and supporters of the politicians.
