The inquiry committee, comprising Senior Member Board of Revenue Waqar Ayub, Special Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs Department Syed Alamgir Shah and Additional IG (Special Branch) Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, was formed by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government on Wednesday.
During their visit, the team checked the record of prisoners and took pictures of the building. The officials also held a meeting with DI Khan DIG, commissioner and other senior officials of the district government. During the briefing, the officials were informed of the details of the attack and consequent escape of prisoners.
The team later held a press conference where it sought help from journalists and asked them to provide any information or pictures they might have of the jailbreak.
Around 150 Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants armed with heavy artillery attacked the DI Khan Central Jail on Monday. The incident attracted widespread criticism and was termed a failure of the government.
