Healthcare: ‘Ensure availability of doctors and paramedics’

“All available resources will be utilised to improve service delivery at Jaranwala tehsil headquarters hospital,” Health Secretary Hassan Iqbal said on Friday.


He was presiding over a meeting at the tehsil municipal office here in Jaranwala.

Iqbal directed the officers concerned to take up the development work on the hospital building.

He said the availability of doctors and paramedics should be ensured and the management improved.

The health secretary directed Medical Superintendent Mian Tariq to ensure that the medical equipment and machinery were operational. He said special attention should be given to cleanliness, security and welfare of the patients.

Iqbal asked the Health EDO  Waqar Sadiq to submit a report to him about utilisation of funds during the previous financial year at hospitals, rural health centres, basic health units  and dispensaries in the district.

Earlier, the health EDO told the secretary that 93-bed THQ hospital was providing medical facilities to more than 1.3 million people. He said there was a shortage of doctors as 13 out of the 15 posts of specialists were vacant.
