Stealing diesel: LB minister suspends officer for fuel theft

The Sindh Minister for Local Bodies Syed Owais Muzaffar has issued orders to suspend Executive Engineer Ali Ahmed for involvement in embezzlement of diesel.


Muzaffar said he will not tolerate corruption in his ministry and in any of its departments.

While chairing a meeting to look into issues relating his department he was told that the water board officers take into personal use diesel funds of water-supply tankers. The board staff is also involved in the theft of water and sells the water on high prices.

The minister ordered that all such officers be suspended immediately. He ordered that illegal connections be removed immediately and the water supply to the residents of Karachi be improved.

Owais Muzaffar took serious notice of the water shortage in Lyari area on the complaints by Sindh MPA Sania Naz Baloch.

He ordered that the water supply in the area be streamlined and the officers responsible for the shortage be suspended.

The provincial minister announced that he will carry out surprise visits of the various cities and areas of the province and examine the water supply, sewerage system and cleanliness there. He warned taking action against the negligent officers on the spot.
