This is not a punishment at all. If you want real punishment? Demote him to the lowest level and force him to come on duty even if he resigns a thousand times. Strip him of all the privileges. Do this today and you would not have this issue again for a thousand years to come.
He has been rewarded not sacked.................being made OSD is that you get to do nothing with pay and benefits intact.
Will the near-by brigade commander get a court martial for twiddling his thumbs while the jail burned and request for help unanswered?
@gp65: Answer to all of your questions, I feel horrible. However, I do think that this tragedy will be a precursor to the long awaited showdown against militants.
So now the KPK government is waking up from deep slumber after so much chaos and loss of many precious lives!
Was anyone in army punished for lack of response during Abbotabad and Salala? Was anyone in ISI sacked for intelligence failure in Mehran base? Why punish only the police? Why not the provincial interior minister?
Not just suspensions but a thorough inquiry be done to find out who was involved: we must prosecute and punish the culprit, the insiders, if we want to get anywhere...
This is a good start. I would expect more sackings once the investigation commission report is published in 15 days.
Sacking is not enough. Those who are responsible for the glaring security lapse should be tried for criminal negligence.
making OSD doesnt mean being sacked. correction ET
