‘Crippling’ Attack: Gunmen kill polio team’s police guard

Two gunmen riding a motorcycle opened indiscriminate fire, killing police constable at the spot.

QUETTA: A policeman escorting the polio vaccination team was killed on Tuesday by unidentified men in Pishin district, 52 kilometres north of Quetta. According to the local administration, two gunmen riding a motorcycle opened indiscriminate fire, killing police constable Muhammad Shah at the spot and fled from the scene. Police said the deceased was on duty to protect the anti polio vaccination team in Pishin. After the incident, the local authorities rushed to the spot and shifted the dead body to the local hospital which was later handed over to the heirs following necessary proceedings. A senior official of UNICEF has also confirmed the incident.
