Clever ploy: Men pretending to be police officials rob house

They searched all the rooms and demanded that they be shown where valuables were kept.

Five men pretending to be Special Branch personnel took away cash, gold jewellery, mobile phones and a laptop from a house in Cheliak police area. 


Police said that Professor Afzal, a resident of Raheem Colony, was greeted by five men in civilian attire who identified themselves as officers of the Special Branch. They said that they had received information that some terrorists were had hidden weapons in the area and demanded that he let them search his house. They said that they would search every house in the colony.

On entering the house they seized the mobile phones of all family members. They searched all the rooms and demanded that they be shown where valuables were kept. They then locked all the family members in a room and took away 100 tolas of gold jewellery, several mobile phones, laptops, Rs500,000 and 3,000 British pounds.

Police said that this was the second such incident reported this month. Operations SSP Khurram Shakoor said, “We are looking for the robbers and will hopefully trace them in 48 hours.”
