LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has ordered that 14 police employees be reverted to their parent department after the completion of their training at the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). The court held that the CTD did not have the authority to retain them for a day after their training. The petitioners had complained that after their training at the CTD was finished, all police officials from other districts on the training course were sent back, but they were retained at the department. The petitioners’ counsel said that this was unjust and his clients should be reverted back to their parent departments.  A CTD representative told the court that the department had planned to retain the services of the petitioners until after Muharram. He said that there was a shortage of staff at the CTD. Asked whether the petitioners had been given extra perks and privileges by the department, he said that they had not. After hearing both sides, the court ruled that the petitioners must be transferred back to their parent department.
