Water supply to baluchistan: Breach develops in Shahdadkot canal

The breach occurred in the tail of the canal at RD-179 due to illegal outlets and pipes installed by landlords.

SUKKUR: Water supply to Balochistan was cut down due to a 15-foot-wide breach, which occurred in the North-West canal in Shahdadkot, on Tuesday. The breach occurred in the tail of the canal at RD-179 due to illegal outlets and pipes installed by influential landlords, according to irrigation officials.The Shahdadkot irrigation executive engineer had registered an FIR against the landlords. The police have, however, yet to take action against them. The officials added that the supply to Balochistan had to be compromised after the breach as water supply to the canal was stopped. A team of irrigation officials had reached the spot and managed to plug the breach within a couple of hours.
