Illegal detentions: Man registers case against Rangers

Umer had filed an application against the colonel in SHC on January 29 .

KARACHI: The police have registered a case against an official of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, for illegal detention. The FIR no. 212/13 under sections 342 (illegal confinement) and 506 (threats), was registered at the Sukkhan police station on the complaint of Shakir Umer on Monday. SHO Rao Rafoq while talking to The Express Tribune confirmed the registration of the case and said that the case was registered on the directives of Sindh High Court. Umer said that the complaint in the FIR accused the Rangers officials and personnel including, Colonel Aftab, for illegally detaining and threatening him of dire consequences if he did not concede to their demands. Following the incident, Umer had filed an application against the colonel in SHC on January 29 but the case was registered only now and that too on court orders. SHO Rafiq added that further investigations are underway but they have yet to make any arrests.
