Two workers of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz go missing

Party leadership holds intelligence agencies responsible for the incident.

HYDERABAD: Two workers of the Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) were allegedly whisked away by security agencies while travelling from Mirpurkhas to Sukkur on Sunday evening. Their abandoned car was found from Kandiaro, Noshehro Feroze district.

Zeeshan Laghari and his uncle Majid Laghari had left for Sukkur early in the morning for the latter’s job interview at a non-profit organisation.

Tauseef, Majid’s brother, said that the last they talked to the victims at around 9am after which they stopped responding. The family was able to locate the car with the help of the tracker service and found their phones and Majid’s laptop in the car, he added. Citing the family’s financial condition, Tauseef ruled out kidnap for ransom and also said that the family doesn’t have enmity with anyone.



The alleged enforced disappearance elicited a strong reaction from JSQM. “The intelligence agencies are involved in their disappearance,” said Akash Mallah, the party general secretary. “They have been doing this for a long time now.”

Mallah himself had remained missing for several months along with the party vice chairperson Niaz Kalani.

The JSQM chairperson Sanan Qaureshi, Kalani and Mallah met the aggrieved family in Mirpurkhas and announced protests throughout Sindh for the safe return of their men.

“A petition will be filed in the Sindh High Court if the agencies do not release him,” said Mallah.



An FIR could not be registered owing to a dispute over the jurisdiction under which the crime scene falls. According to DSP Pervez Shah, the car was traced in the limits of Bhirya road polic station but was later brought to the Kandiaro police station.
