MUZAFFARABAD: A no-confidence motion was moved against Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Chaudhry Abdul Majeed on Monday, Express News reported.

Following this move, seven ministers and three advisers resigned from their posts.

The ministers who resigned are Barqiyat Chaudhry, Majid Khan, Akbar Ibrahim, Hussain Sargala, Afsar Shahid, Akhtar Hussain Rabbani and Azhar Gilani.

These ministers will reportedly vote in favour of the no confidence motion.

Belonging to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Majeed was elected as the 11th AJK prime minister on July 26, 2011. Majeed had secured 35 votes while his opponent Farooq Haider Khan, from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), managed to secure only 11 votes.

Majeed, who was nominated by President Asif Ali Zardari for the premiership, was elected in the June 26, 2011 election from a constituency in the Mirpur district.

IMRAN KHAN | 11 years ago | Reply It is routine work in AJK Assembly that beneficiaries always topple the elected Prime Minister when they get a little chance. Before that former Prime Minister of AJK Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan also face the same. In my point of view there should be no place for specifically beneficiaries for toppling the elected Prime Minister and every Political Party of Kashmir should be aware from these type of beneficiaries.
