KARACHI: Pakistan’s World Junior Squash Individual Champ-ionship title race came to an end after Ali Bokhari and Tayyab Aslam crashed out in the last-16 phase in Wroclaw, Poland.

Third-seed Bokhari suffered a shocking 3-2 loss at the hands of Egypt’s Mohamed El Gawarhy. Bokhari won the first game only to see his opponent go past him with wins in the following two games.

However, Bokhari levelled but failed to win as El Gawarhy won with game scores of 8-11, 11-8, 11-9, 7-11 and 11-5 after a 76-minute battle.

Compatriot Aslam suffered a crushing defeat against top-seed Fares Dessouki of Egypt in straight sets.

Dessouki eased past the Pakistani with game scores of 11-6, 11-8 and 11-8 in 54 minutes.

The last Pakistani to win the title was legendary Jansher Khan, who achieved the feat in 1984.
