‘Line losses’: Eatery owner among three booked for power theft

Three persons including a restaurant owner were booked for allegedly stealing electricity, the police said on Tuesday.


During an operation against power theft in different sectors of Islamabad, a police party raided Mehfil Restaurant along GT Road in Sector G-12 and cut its main power supply line. The restaurant is also allegedly built on encroached CDA land, a police official said.  The police registered a case against the owner, Muhammad Saeed, on charge of stealing power and illegal construction on government property.

In another incident, the Golra police raided a house in Mera Akku village and cut the power line of Kala Khan’s house. An FIR was registered against Khan, who had allegedly been stealing power for several years.

The same police also raided a house in Mera Jaffar village and registered a case against Gulfraz after cutting the power line of his house.  A Ramna police official said the violators are still at large.
