LAHORE:

Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Tuesday issued a notice to the Ministry of Religious Affairs on a miscellaneous application challenging the removal of lowest-bidding Hajj tour operators from the merit list.

The petitioner’s counsel said that 110 tour operators had bid for the Hajj quota but the ministry had excluded tour operators with the lowest bids.

Forty-five tour operators had bid less than Rs250,000 per pilgrim, but the ministry had selected only 14 of these. The hearing will resume on July 17.
