PESHAWAR:

Newly-appointed Director General (DG) of Cultural Centre of Islamic Republic of Iran Syed Bahaud Din Beladi on Tuesday called on University of Peshawar (UoP) Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Rasul Jan to discuss matters of bilateral cooperation.

The two officials also discussed the promotion of the Persian language in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).

VC Jan congratulated the Iranian envoy on assuming his duties and said the Iranian Consulate and Cultural Centre have played a positive role in establishing cooperation between the two countries and establishing academic exchange programmes between UoP and Iranian universities.

“The progress made by Iran in the field of science and technology is commendable and the UoP is looking forward to benefitting from the expertise of Iranian scientists,” added Jan.

DG Beladi said his government wants to collaborate with UoP in initiating joint projects for the promotion of the Persian language, adding they were awaiting a formal approval from the university to go ahead with the projects.
