A two-day international conference on ‘The dynamics of change in conflict societies: Pukhtun region in perspective’ will begin at the University of Peshawar’s Baragali summer campus today (Tuesday).
The 2nd International Conference is being organised by the UoP’s Department of Political Science in collaboration with Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) Islamabad, said a press release issued on Monday.
The conference hopes to highlight the effect an ongoing war, displacement and transnational movement has had on Pukhtun society in the provinces of Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, in particular the socio-psychological, political and economic condition of the Pukhtun people.
The seminar will also discuss how these developments have led to the introduction of new and diverse sets of religious and secular ideas, beliefs and world views. The symposium further hopes to shed light on how conflict has changed the face of the volatile northern areas of Pakistan.
