PESHAWAR: Students of University of Peshawar’s (UoP) Fine Arts and Design Department showcased their theses at the Peshawar University Teachers Association (PUTA) Hall on Wednesday.

At least 17 thesis projects comprising paintings, pictures, textile designs, communication design projects and handicrafts were on display for both students and teachers. Students highlighted how they view the various social and cultural aspects of contemporary society on canvas, using bright and dark hues.

Final year student Palwasha Abbas explained her thesis topic was the scenic beauty of Naran, Kaghan valley. “My paintings capture the eye-catching, natural sceneries of the valley with gushing streams, pine hills, rainforests and most importantly the beauty of nature itself,” she said.

Ijaz Khan based his thesis on the wildlife of Buner. “My paintings show the birds and animals of Buner district in their natural environment,” he explained. Ijaz, however, lamented deforestation and hunting of birds is adversely affecting wildlife in the district.

UoP Department of Fine Arts and Design Chairperson Gul Mayeda Naz congratulated the students who successfully completed their four-year degree programme. “Our courses are designed to develop technical skills, research habits and creativity in students,” she said.
