City government: Crackdown against encroachment to be launched

The administration has received a number of complaints against street vendors.

The district government on Sunday decided to launch a crackdown on the illegal encroachments.


City government spokesperson Muhammad Imran said, “The operation against encroachments would be initiated in all eight bazaars and associated markets.”

He said the administration had received a number of complaints against street vendors.

“These encroachments are creating problems for pedestrians. They are also an eyesore.”

He said that in the first phase of the operation, encroachments on Jhang Bazaar, Bhowana Bazaar, Karkhana Bazaar, Kutchery Bazaar and Chowk Clock Tower would be removed. In the second phase, encroachments from remaining bazaars and markets would be removed.

He said the crackdown against was being launched after consultation with all the businessmen. He asked the traders, shopkeepers and vendors to remove encroachments voluntarily before the operation.
