KARACHI: A 65-year-old woman, who is reportedly suffering from Congo haemorrhagic fever, has been admitted to Civil Hospital, Karachi. The patient, Zarina, is the resident of Gulshan-e-Hadeed and she was previously being treated at a private hospital. When she found her tests report confirming that she was suffering from Congo virus she came to Civil hospital because she could not afford the expensive treatment. The Congo virus is a fatal infectious disease that has claimed four lives in Karachi since the start of this year. Dr Shakeel Malik said that the fever belongs to those diseases that animals cause to humans. The patient’s lungs also get affected. “The patient’s family is also being treated for the anti-viral,” he said, adding that all measures were being taken to help Zarina.
