SWABI: A 12-year-old girl lost her life when doctors at a private hospital allegedly mishandled a surgical procedure in Swabi on Tuesday. The girl’s father, Noorul Basar, a resident of Dagai, said Shafan was admitted to a private medical centre after ENT specialist Dr Abdur Rahman prescribed surgery for her tonsils. Basar said he was later informed Shafan had slipped into a coma during the surgery, adding the doctor and other staff were nowhere to be found afterwards. The grieving father said he found his daughter dead in the operation theatre. Basar further said doctors at District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Swabi refused to perform a post-mortem claiming they did not want to offend Dr Rahman. Despite several attempts, the executive district officer health, medical superintendent Swabi DHQ and Dr Rahman did not respond for comments. Shafan’s parents demanded the government conduct an inquiry against the alleged negligence.
