Dadu road crash leaves 13 dead

More than half of the casualties were taken to hospital in police vans.

A speeding passenger bus overturned on the Indus Highway in Dadu district, killing 13 people and injuring 35 others. The accident happened late Sunday night in the Bok Mori area, eight kilometres away from Dadu city.


The bus, which was traveling from Qambar-Shahdadkot to Karachi, overturned after its tyre-rod broke, according to officials. The fatalities include four children, two women, and seven men, all residents of Qambar-Shahdadkot district.

More than half of the casualties were taken to hospital in police vans as few ambulances were available. At least 10 injured are said to be in a critical condition, according to the district health officer, Roshan Bhatti. Some of them have been referred to hospitals in Jamshoro and Hyderabad districts.

One of the survivors Abdul Jabbar said that some passengers had asked the driver to slow down, but the driver, who also died in the accident, ignored their pleas.
