ISLAMABAD:

The National Highways and Motorway Police on Monday arrested three alleged carjackers after a man, whose taxi they had lifted, reported the episode to the police.

The police said that three men had booked Javed’s taxi for Muree from Rawalpindi and after reaching the Hakkas area, they asked him to stop. The police said that as soon he stopped, the three alleged carjackers dragged him out of the taxi and tied his hands and legs with a rope. In the meantime, one of the car-lifters fled with the taxi and the other two carjackers waited there.

After a while, they untied the rope and fled in a taxi. The taxi driver immediately informed the police, who chased the taxi and got hold of the two alleged car-lifters on the Muree-Islamabad Expressway. The arrested carjackers, who were identified as Feroz Shah and Sajid Ali, led police to the hideout where the stolen taxi had been kept. The police, meanwhile, recovered the taxi and also arrested the third carjacker. The police also recovered two pistols from their possessions. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
