KARACHI: Islamabad Jinns overpowered Lahore Rams 25-3 in the final to clinch the Super 15s Premier League Domestic Championship title in Islamabad yesterday.

The winners exhibited complete control over their opponents as their forwards tested Lahore with a dominating show.

Lahore, without key players Sair Riaz and Arslan Zahid, were unable to pose any threats as the new players failed to contribute. In contrast, seasoned Azmat Niazi and Sahir Aslam excelled to set up an impressive win for Islamabad.

Pakistan Rugby Union (PRU) Secretary General Arif Saeed said the event would boost the sport in the country.

“This event will give real context to club rugby and will make talent identification easier as we seek to bolster the strength of our national side,” said Saeed. “The PRU is serious about improving the quality and popularity of the game.

“We see this competition as another step along the way to make Pakistan a force to be reckoned with at the international level.”
