ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar MuhammadYousaf said Sunday that fresh legislation will be drafted to preserve the pages printed with holy verses, in order to  stop their desecration.

The minister said this after he participated in a walk from National Press Club to D-Chowk organised by Pakistani Journalists Council to create awareness about preserving sanctity of sacred scripts.

Talking to media personnel, Sardar Yousaf appreciated the council for taking the initiative and said that it was the responsibility of every citizen to ensure the respect of such scripts.

Pages and posters having sacred material should not be misused, he added.

He said the ministry of religious affairs had written to provincial governments to devise a disposing of old sacred pages and newspapers so that their sanctity is retained.
