Siddique lifts Sindh Open trophy

Golfer clinches title after finishing with 13-under-par.

KARACHI: Spurred by a strong lead in the first two rounds, Mohammad Siddique clinched the Sindh Open Golf Championship that concluded at the Arabian Sea Country Club in Karachi yesterday.

The Lyallpur Club golfer maintained his form throughout the Rs1.5 million-championship to overcome leading contenders including Shabbir Iqbal, Matloob Ahmed and Mohammad Munir.

He carded a three-under-par 69 on the final day to accumulate a gross card of 13-under-par to claim the title.

Shabbir finished second with an accumulated score of 11-under-par 205 while Munir clinched third position.

Meanwhile, Salman Jehangir won the amateur competition with a score of 219 followed by Ghazanfar Mahmood and Waseem Rana.

Ghani Khan was the eventual winner in the senior professionals’ event with a final score of 139 overcoming second-placed Mohammad Shafiq by seven strokes. Nadeem Aslam lifted the juniors’ trophy with Zubair Hussain and Ahmed Sultan finishing second and third respectively.
