LAHORE:

The University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore, has once again been ranked the second best medical university in Pakistan in the ranking released by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Friday.

The criteria used by the HEC for ranking is based on quality assurance, teaching quality and excellence in research.

While announcing the results, Javaid R Laghari, the HEC chairman, said the University of Helth Sciences was closer in points earned this year to Aga Khan University, Karachi, which remained the best medical university in the country.

UHS Vice Chancellor Maj Gen (r) Prof Muhammad Aslam congratulated the university’s staff and faculty and praised their devotion, enthusiasm and commitment.

He urged them to take the university to new heights and to avoid complacency.

“We will focus on the quality of student learning and on excellence in both academic and administrative pursuits,” he said.

Aslam said the UHS had to become a launching pad for invention and creative ideas. He said the university’s potential for advances in health research was “quite promising.”

Aslam said UHS would compete for QS World Ranking of universities this year.

HASSAN | 10 years ago | Reply OMG! this is sham ranking. UHS even with all combined colleges it has published less papers than DOW and AKU and they were given research ranking higher!!!! ridiculous, I think HEC should reconsider the ranking with as i think AKU, Dow and KE are much better in terms of QA, Research and faculty than UHS!
