Water supply: KWSB signs MoU with Chinese firm

The MoU would provide cooperation in the Greater Karachi Water Supply Project K-IV.

The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) and China International Water and Electric Corporation (CWE) inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday for cooperation in the Greater Karachi Water Supply Project K-IV.


The MoU was signed by CWE Pakistan General Manager Li Zhilli and KWSB Managing Director Misbahuddin Farid at the KWSB chairman’s secretariat.

It was pointed out that the MoU between KWSB and CWE was signed after several meetings and discussions.

Farid stated on Thursday that development work on the Greater Karachi Water Supply Project K-IV has been initiated after Ecnec and government approval.

He said that with the completion of this project Karachi would be self-sufficient in water supply for next 20 years with 1,200 cusecs additional supply and 400 million gallons daily supply.
