Qasim resigned after his work tenure ended, saying he doesn’t want to continue working as the head selector.
The former chief selector had recently announced the national squad for the West Indies tour on July 3.
Soon after the resignation, the PCB dissolved the selection committee.
On March 1, 2012, Qasim was appointed as chief selector after former chief selector Mohammad Illyas resigned from the post.
The appointment was made by the then PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf.
Recently, the PCB team management and selection committee were severely criticised for team's performance at the ICC Champions Trophy in the UK.
Calls for the resignation were accompanied by demands to overhaul the squad.
Despite the poor show, selectors said there were hardly any flaws in team selection.
Correction: In an earlier version of the article, the date "July 3" was mistakenly written as "June 3". The error is regretted.

I think he has made an early call, still quite young, just in mid 80tes i racan...
Just so ppl know, this was a ceremonial position and he did not get paid. Also, he never opted for this position, and was appointed instead. IQ is a respectful and honest man and I wish him all the best in the future!
Lets start counting before here returns with a new role. This is not first time he has switched he job.
Mr. Intikhab Alam the permanent feature of PCB though remains for the misfortune of Pakistan cricket
Do not be too excited. Somebody who is somebody of somebody will be ressurected from the dust and appointed new selector. No miracle is likely to happen in the land of the pure.
what took you so long????
Resigned! we should've sacked long ago
Chairman pcb can be replaced, chief selector can be sent home BUT no one certainly NO ONE can take out the AKMAL FAMILY form the team. One fo these characters has to be in the team
He remained associated with PCB in different capacities and I don't remember any successes in his tenures- its good that now he himself has decided to go home- I hope he doesn't come back again in any other role
This is Great News!
Good riddance....
It is July 3rd and not June 3rd
