Pakistan Army: Firing competition concludes

He urged the commanders to strive for excellence in all fields.

Army Firing Competition 2013 concluded on Wednesday at the Army Firing Range in Jhelum. Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, speaking on the occasion, said that the highest standard of training and quest for continuous improvement was the hallmark of any professional army.

He urged the commanders to strive for excellence in all fields, and said that being best in every aspect was an objective of the Pakistan Army.

In accordance with the training doctrine of Pakistan Army, Gen Kayani had declared 2012-13 as the Year of Firing with the aim of enhancing the firing efficiency of individuals and units.

A number of new and innovative steps have been taken to realise the concept, including the establishment of an Army Marksmanship Unit aimed at improving the firing standards of Pakistan Army soldiers.
