
Ombudsman Javed Mahmood on Wednesday sought a report from the Kasur district police officer on an alleged firing and robbery incident involving students of Punjab University and a female journalist at Phool Nagar.
In a notice sent to the Kasur district police officer, the ombudsman asked what steps the police had taken to curb the crime rate in Phool Nagar.
According to the reports brought to the ombudsman’s attention, dacoits opened fire on a vehicle carrying students from Punjab University and a journalist returning to Lahore after shooting a documentary.
The robbers had snatched cash, mobile phones, laptops and cameras from the students and journalist. They had also beaten up the journalist, identified as Quratul Ain.
