Bomb blast: Mobile phone network tower destroyed

BDS defused the two-kilogramme bomb.

HANGU: A mobile phone network tower in Togh Sarai, Hangu was destroyed when a bomb attached by unidentified militants to its lattices detonated on Wednesday.

Saddar police official Islam Din said at approximately 2am a huge explosion was heard in Togh Sarai but the police were initially unable to locate the site. Later in the day, Abdul Waheed reported two bombs had been planted on a network tower in his field. One explosive device had already detonated, while the other was still strapped on to the lattices. Officer Islam Din added the police and bomb disposal squad (BDS) officials rushed to the spot.

BDS defused the two-kilogramme bomb and reported parts of the tower were destroyed in the blast. Initial investigations revealed the same tower had been targeted thrice in the past by unidentified militants.
