PESHAWAR:

Former Insaf Student Federation (ISF) University of Peshawar (UoP) President Sohail Khan Afridi was elected as the ISF Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa president on Sunday.

The election for the post was held at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) provincial secretariat. The elections were organised by an ISF election committee headed by Central Vice President Dr Ehsan Naveed.

A total of six candidates contested – Ashfaq Munir, Hafeez Khan, Ikram Ghazi, Israfeel Khan Afridi, Sohail Khan Afridi and Yaseen Khan – contested for the ISF provincial president position. A total of 30 ISF Provincial Executive Council members cast their votes in favour of the contesting candidates.

Results were announced soon after the polls closed, declaring Sohail Khan Afridi as the winner after he secured 19 votes.

Sohail joined the ISF in 2008 and has taken an active part in student politics by serving on various portfolios in the federation.

“My main focus will be to reorganise and strengthen ISF in Hazara and the southern region which were not given due importance in the past,” stated Sohail.

The ISF central president Farrukh Habib, who was also a member of the election committee, said the ISF is playing a necessary role in educational institutes.
