Zero tolerance: Govt employees face penalties for slacking off at work

Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch on Friday threatened to penalise government workers for playing truant or slacking off at work.


Announcing a zero-tolerance policy for any negligence, the chief minister said that government employees were expected to perform their duties with dignity and resolve all issues on time.

“If any employee is found absent from his duty, the administration will take strict action against him,” said the chief minister. All government employees have to perform their duties on time, according to Dr Malik.

Inspection teams have been sent to Mastung and Kalat to check medical facilities in the two districts as well as ensure that doctors were performing their duties there.



During Friday’s session, Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party’s Nasrullah Zehri said on a point of order that he had submitted a resolution in the Assembly Secretariat about the June 15 blasts at SBK and Bolan Medical Complex but they were not kept for debate in any session.

The deputy speaker of the house, Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo, assured him that in next session his resolution would be on the table for debate.

Another PkMAP leader Ubaidullah Babat spoke on the deteriorating law and order situation in his home constituency of Loralai. He said kidnapping for ransom and street crimes were escalating day by day but the government wasn’t taking any action.

“It’s our responsibility to protect our people who voted for us to resolve their problems.” Babat said.

Addressing the session PML N’s Sarfaraz Bugti said for the prevention of terrorism from our society, the government should take some strict actions against the responsible elements.

A JUI-F member of the provincial assembly, Hussan Bano Rakhshani, said that water shortage is the most valid problem of the provincial capital and people are compelled to buy water tankers on high prices.

“The government should resolve this issue which has ruined the daily lives of the people,” she added.

During the session the Balochistan chief minister, who also holds the finance of portfolio, presented the expenses of the budget 2013-14 in the house.

Meanwhile, the assembly session which was commenced on 20th of June on Friday, Deputy Speaker Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo, by reading the order of the Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai, adjourned the session for indefinite period.
