LAHORE: An additional district and sessions judge on Thursday sought comments from the Hanjarwal SHO by July 6 on a petition seeking the registration of a case against five men accused of not returning jewellery that was borrowed for a wedding. Petitioner Mian Khan submitted that his relatives Saleem Sabir and Maqsood and two unidentified people came to his house and asked him to lend them 10 tolas of gold and silver jewellery (bangles, rings and necklaces) for Muhammad Faisal’s wedding. He submitted that the men had claimed that it was a matter of family honour and that they would face humiliation if no jewellery was shown to the guests and the bride’s relatives. Khan said that the men had promised to return the jewellery after the wedding. Khan said they first delayed the return by making excuses and finally refused to return it. Khan said he had approached the SHO concerned to register a case against the men, but the SHO had not entertained his request. He prayed the court to direct the SHO to register an FIR.
