Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Friday sought a reply from the federal government till July 9 on measures taken and proposed to curtail loadshedding during Ramazan.
Judicial Activism Panel Chairman Muhammad Azhar Siddique submitted that load shedding had been reduced for a few days at the court’s intervention, but had increased again.
A mechanism to control load shedding had not been chalked. He requested the court to summon NTDC representatives and ask them to explain why the NEPRA had delegated powers to them to carry out unscheduled load shedding. He requested the court to direct the NTDC and other respondents in the case to explain reasons for their failure to control long hours of load shedding.
