FAISALABAD:

As many as 25 special Ramazan bazaars would be set up in the district, District Coordination Officer Najam Ahmad Shah announced on Friday.

He was presiding over a meeting to review arrangements for these Ramazan bazaars.

He said essential commodities would be available at subsidised rates at these bazaars for the entire month of Ramazan. The DCO said that all these bazaars would be operational a week before Ramazan began.

He directed the officials concerned to ensure that the arrangements were made in time. He also told them to prepare a duty roaster for monitoring officers.

He directed the officials to ensure that cleanliness was maintained at the bazaars. Only those visiting the bazaars be allowed to park their vehicles in the parking lots provided for the bazaars.

He urged the assistant commissioners, the agriculture and livestock officers and market committees’ officials to ensure a smooth supply of commodities to the markets.

He said a complaint centre would be set up at each bazaar. He directed the Health Department to set up medical camps at the bazaars. Water and Sanitation Agency officials were directed to inspect the sites and devise a plan for disposal of rain water from low-lying areas in case of heavy rains.

The DCO warned that negligent officials would be punished.
