LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court on Thursday restrained the Federal Board of Revenue and other authorities from taking action against a man who bought a smuggled car and then registered it through an amnesty scheme later nullified by the Islamabad High Court.
Petitioner Irshad Ali submitted that he had bought a smuggled car and later legalised it by paying taxes, as outlined in the amnesty scheme.
However, the IHC later declared the scheme to be illegal and ordered the FBR to impound and auction all such vehicles.
The petitioner said that the action was a violation of fundamental rights and he asked the court to restrain the board from taking action against him.
Justice Shahzada Mazhar issued notice to the Federal Board of Revenue for July 24 and stopped it from taking any adverse action against the petitioner.

Immature decision
I m extremly surprised that how an irresponsible decision is made by such high level court.now when the vehicles are with common people, why they(courts) are behind them.where was IHC when such SROS were made and implemented. it seems the govt and the IHC are business partners.one issues orders and collects billions and the other, now issues another order to collect more n more billions.May God put them on the right way.Ameen
basically it is the game of local car manufacturing companies. thier sell is disturbed due to this scheme. i also have a Question to IHC ? where was the IHC when this scheme was arise ? where was the IHC when the parliment accept this bill of amnesty scheme? where was the IHC when finance minsiter approved that scheme? where was the IHC when care taker government extends the 7 days period of this scheme? will FBC pay money to peoples ?
Bro now worries. FBC will face this problem. it is not buyer issues.
what about those consumer who bought car by collecting money through working hard day and night who will pay them?
These judges are very intellegent, Subhan Allah
I don't know what is going on, IHC is now declaring it illegal and at the time of issuance SRO and submitting Billions of duties in national exchequer and then extending time span for legalizing additional vehicles everything was right.
