NWFP name change controversy thickens

ABOTTABAD: The ANP and the PML-N have blamed the PML-Q for the unrest in Abbottabad. Talking to Express, ANP MNA Bushra Gihar said the PML-Q should show act in a responsible manner.

She said the Chief Minsiter of NWFP is holding negotiations with the representatives of the Hazra division to allay their concerns.

Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, central secretary general of the PML-N, said the PML-Q is aggravating unrest in Abbottabad.PML-Q's Marvi Memon countered those allegations, and said her

party is opposed to the renaming of NWFP as the new name has not been unanimously approved.

Salah uddin | 14 years ago | Reply People of Hazara have the right to seekjustice and fair play and their demand for a separate province is justified; same goes for other similar demands from unrepresented nationalities of bigger provinces.Ultimately, this would simply strengthen the Federation.
Sarah | 14 years ago | Reply hazara division demographically and geographically is large enough to be declared a separate province! it is very unfair to ignore this fact totally in renaming NWFP to Pakhtunkhwa. Plus the fact that the Pakhtuns make up only a minor part of the NWFP. This whole name change unrest could have been avoided if there was anyone even a tad bit smart behind this operation. People just watching out for their own back and complying with retarded demands like these are the reason this country is unfortunately going down. very sad.
