FAISALABAD: A man was shot dead and two others were injured in two robberies in People’s Colony on Monday.

Police said Zawwar Hussain, a banker and a resident of Garden Colony, was on his way to Gulzar Colony in a car with his two gunmen, Zubair Ahmad and Muhammad Fayyaz, when he was stopped by two armed robbers.

Police said Hussain’s gunmen resisted. Hussain and Ahmad sustained bullet injuries and were taken to a hospital where their condition was later reported to be critical. The robbers fled the scene, police said.

In another incident, a robber was shot dead by the man he and his accomplices were trying to rob on Chen One Road on Monday.

Police said the robbers had stopped Majid Ali and tried to snatch his motorcycle and cash at gunpoint. Police said Ali shot at the robbers injuring one of them.

“His accomplice took him to divisional headquarters hospital and left him there…The man later succumbed to his injuries,” police said.

Police said they were yet to establish the identity of the deceased. The body had been sent to a mortuary for autopsy, police said.

The People’s Colony SHO said, “A special police team has been tasked to find the robbers who escaped.”
