ISLAMABAD:

The Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department of the European Commission (ECHO) has provided 3 million euros to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to help them combat malnutrition among Pakistani women and children affected by emergencies, according to a press release issued by UNICEF.

The funds are intended to help UNICEF and its partners in Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa expand coverage of Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition, which aims to provide essential life-saving interventions for 1.9 million people while providing nutrition services to 266,000 people. “Addressing acute malnutrition is an urgent priority for us”, said ECHO Islamabad Head David Sevcik. “We believe ECHO’s support provides an important platform from which development partners can further address malnutrition’s structural causes.”
