Dr Fouzia briefed the Interior Minister about various steps relating to Aafia’s detention in the United States and the various steps by the previous government to secure her release from American prison.
She said that the previous government’s efforts have failed to bear fruitful results. She requested the Minister for renewed efforts to secure her sister’s release.
Khan said that he would call a special meeting on the issue and assured Dr Fouzia that all possible support and efforts for ensuring Dr Aafia’s release will be made.

I agree with Anonymous as if we don't have enough terrorists already to get more back....I am just so sick of the Siddiqui sisters trying to gain sympathies...they should have known their place before going out for jihad!
There are dozens of other Pakistanis convicted of terrorism (like Afia), felony, fraud and other crimes serving time in jail. Why isn't the Pak establishment showing the same level of "concern" to get these terrorists and criminals back to Pakistan?

She was given due process of the law before being convicted. interior minister should be concerned about the security situation in Pakistan.

@Anonymous Aafia Siddiqui is innocent, her case is an example of deliberate injustice. Now they are afraid that if she is released and talks to media, or writes a book, it will cause another embarrassment for the biggest champion of women rights and a lot of questions will be raised regarding their injustice system.

Her ex-husband accused Siddiqui of being abusive and manipulative throughout their seven years of marriage He also said that Siddiqui had a violent personality and extremist views, leading him to suspect her of involvement in jihadi activities.
If FBI had arrested Boston bombers when Russians told them to keep a watch on them, lives could have been saved and then pakis will be saying look USA arrested 2 innocent Muslims in Boston.

I would request media to give more attention to KPK and compare the PTI government with Punjab government so that the people may know the truth!

Rubbish. The Pakistani govt has no ability to negotiate a return of Aafia Siddiqui - in fact Obama himself couldn't get her returned unless he granted her Presidential pardon which would never happen. It's past time that the Pakistan govt quit making chest thumping/unrealistic pronouncements and started treating it's citizens as adults who can understand harsh realities when given facts.

I can challenge interior Minister Nisar he cannot get the release of Dr. Aafia. Their is no law that would allow US to oblige PMLN on that, so please stop playing.

Yes, while you're at it, please request release of all other terrorists held in American jails, and have them sent back to Pakistan. After all, our country has become very safe lately and could use a few of these terrorists.
