Violence round-up: Two ASWJ men among 11 killed

Two milkmen sprayed with bullets in their cattle farm in Bhains Colony.

Eleven people, including two Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) supporters and a sympathiser of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), were killed in different parts of the city on Friday.


A seminary administrator, Maulana Yasir Qureshi, 42, was shot dead in the Shah Faisal Colony police remits. Police officials said that two armed motorcyclists opened fire when the man was trying to fix his vehicle at a workshop near his residence. He was affiliated with the Jamia Farooqia. Police officials said that deceased ran Iqra seminary in Shah Faisal Colony. He was shot multiple times and was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC), where doctors pronounced him dead. Later, his body was handed over to his family. When the assailants were trying to escape, a police patrol intercepted them but they abandoned their vehicle and managed to flee. Police officials said that victim’s brother, Mudassir, had also been killed in the same manner a couple of years ago. The ASWJ condemned the incident and said he was a member of their religious party.

Another man, Imran Ali, also linked with the ASWJ, was gunned down by armed men in Scouts Colony, within the limits of Mobina Town police station. His body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Police officials said that the victim was killed over sectarian basis.

A supporter of the MQM, Nadeem Sharif, was killed and a passerby, Allah Dad, was wounded in an act of target killing, within the Napier police precincts. Police officials said that deceased was a welder by profession and was sitting at his shop when armed men shot him.

Separately, two milkmen were shot dead inside their cattle farm in the Bhains Colony area of the Shah Latif police remits. Police officials said that unidentified persons riding two motorbikes barged into the cattle farm owned by a Jahanzaib Shah and opened indiscriminate fire, killing Nasir Mithal and Adil. Following the incident, enraged residents staged a protest on National Highway and blocked traffic by setting tyres on fire. They were later dispersed by law enforcers.

A businessman was found dead near Gate No. 15, Keamari, within the limits of Jackson police station. Police officials said that Haji Altaf was a resident of Garden area. He was kidnapped by culprits before being murdered.

Two fishermen, Abdul Shakoor and Noor Ahmed, were found dead within the remits of Ibrahim Hyderi police station. The bodies were transported to the JPMC. Police officials said that they were kidnapped by unidentified persons when they were going to their respective homes in Korangi. After shooting them multiple times, the culprits dumped their bodies.

A young man, Wasif, a resident of Lines Area, was found dead in Lasbella, within the remits of Rizvia police station. Police officials said that victim was kidnapped by armed men when he was going to Lyari for some work, and later culprits shot him dead and dumped his body.

Meanwhile, the bodies of two more persons were found separately from Lyari and Sher Shah areas. Police officials said that both the victims were kidnapped and tortured before being shot dead.
