‘Symbol Of Courage’: Everest climber awarded Rs2.5m

Prime minister said that his government would promote mountaineering.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has awarded Rs2.5 million to Samina Baig, who became the first Pakistani woman to scale Mount Everest last month.

Congratulating Baig on her historic achievement, the prime minister said that his government would promote mountaineering.

Lauding her courage and determination, Nawaz said that Pakistani women were courageous and have the ability to face challenges.

“Her expedition would go a long way in instilling confidence in the womenfolk of the remote areas,: he said.
