Earlier this month, prominent cleric Sheikh Youssef al Qaradawi called for war in Syria after fighters from Shia Lebanese group Hezbollah intervened to help President Bashar al Assad, in a move which stoked sectarian tensions.
Iran, a close ally of Assad and backer of Hezbollah, has accused Arab and Western states of fomenting terrorism in Syria by arming rebels caught up in the two-year-old revolt.
"There were steps and fatwas from clerics like Mr Qaradawi, these fatwas escalate and encourage apostasy and radicalism in the region," Hossein Amir Abdollahian, Iranian Deputy Minister for Arab and Foreign Affairs, told reporters in Kuwait.
The Syrian conflict is widening a divide in the Middle East between the two main denominations of Islam.
Kuwait, which lies across the Gulf from Iran, has voiced concern that the Syrian crisis is heightening sectarian tension and becoming a battlefield for regional powers.
Abdollahian said radicals in Syria have been attacking all sects and creating rifts between communities. He called for a political solution to the crisis which has killed more than 90,000 people.
Abdollahian, who was in the Gulf Arab state to meet with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al Khaled al Sabah, denied that Iran was giving military aid to the Syrian army.
"We give economic, political and media support to Syria," he said. Hezbollah was involved only to protect the Lebanese-Syrian border and to shield Lebanese living in Syria from violence, he said.

I am very disappointed with iran behaviour on syria war, I was very much impressed with the living style of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. But it seems it was all fake, they are totally involved in the butchering of muslims in syria. All shia states are united in this war :@ I have had considered them as brothers but they have proved they are not
Iran should be supporting Syrian people against Tyrant Bashar but they have double standards. they support Bahraini Shites against a much less suppressive govt than Bashar Assad of Syria but then they turn around and support Bashar because he is shia.
ET you did not post any of of my comments today including on this story and on the other hand you have posted some of the bizzare comments above. What policy are you following.... it is waste of time coming back to visit your site.
If your going to lie at least coordinate with your allies. Hezbollah has already admitted it's involvement supporting the Syrian army and Syria has admitted to receiving military support from Iran. Further - blaming the West is rubbish - over 90,000 Syrian's have died prior to the West's recent announcement that they will lift the arms embargo and no one believes the West has the ability to promote/implement Jihad.
Hizbullah is doing chairity work I guess ....
Iranian don't see Hizbullah who are they and why whom they fighting for Alawiet shia Syrian govt ???
