Renewable energy: Biogas and fertiliser plants to be set up across country

The PCRET has already installed more than 2,290 biogas plants in rural areas.

The Pakistan Council of Renewable Energy Technologies (PCRET), under its “Biogas technology and production of bio-fertiliser” project, will complete the installation of 2,500 biogas plants throughout the country by the end of this month.


The PCRET has already installed more than 2,290 biogas plants in rural areas to meet domestic fuel needs and for the production of fertiliser.

The project, initiated in 2008, has already completed the installation of 1,700 plants in Punjab, 300 in Sindh, 113 in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, 20 in the federal capital, 71 in Balochistan and 50 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

According to official data, the total cost of the project is Rs97.648 million, and it will be completed by June 30 2013.
